Your Game Plan

Paul Volker, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve, has an opinion piece in the Washington Post. It is wise to consider what he has to say.

I don't know whether change will come with a bang or a whimper, whether sooner or later. But as things stand, it is more likely than not that it will be financial crises rather than policy foresight that will force the change.

What's your game plan? I always find it productive to run through scenarios and try to anticipate my actions/reactions, if any. Suppose Mr. Volker is right and it is a crisis instead of policy that alters current monetary and fiscal situation. What will you do? What did you do in 1998 during the Russian default and LTCM? How about during the 2000 meltdown?

Maybe you did nothing and slept like a baby. You already had your duckslinks in a row. Maybe you panicked and sold at the low, only to buy everything back much higher. Only you know what you did or didn't do.

Maybe nothing untoward will happen domestically or globally and we will continue to move forward from the early 21st century collapse. But what if it isn't that easy. What's your game plan?

Sweet dreams.
