It's fun to spend money. Yes, it's satisfying to save money, and rewarding to invest it wisely and watch it grow. But it's FUN! to spend it. But only if you spend it on something fun.

What's the one thing you most love to spend money on?

I like to spend money on music and the things that play it-stereos, iPods, etc. I also like to spend it on T-shirts, which I think is sort of a strange vice. But I just love T-shirts. If I go to a restaurant and they're selling T-shirts with their restaurant's name on them, I'm tempted to buy one even if I didn't like the food. When I go on vacation, I regularly come home with two or three T-shirts. I can go almost a whole summer without wearing the same T-shirt twice, and I'd say I wear a T-shirt 5 out of 7 days each week. I like to look at them and think about where I got them and what I was doing and who I was with, and I think they help me remember interesting things I've done in my life. I can't be totally alone in this respect, or they wouldn't be selling T-shirts everywhere you go, but still I think I'm a little extreme.

Of course I like to spend money on big things, too, like traveling and things that make my house feel special. But I'm thinking here more about little things.

Here's what I hate to spend money on: cars. And I don't just mean buying a used car versus a new car or a cheaper model versus a more expensive one. I mean that I curse my car every time it needs gas or an oil change or God forbid new brakes. Logically I know that my car does a lot for me, but I just hate spending even five cents on it. Sometimes my wife takes it to the car wash and I stew over the seven bucks spent on soap suds.

(By the way, I got on this topic after reading selena Maranjian's "Top Money Drains" column yesterday at Motley Fool.)

Howsabout you… what are your money vices?
