Trim Your Phone Bill to Save Money

© AMagillThis blog has been pointing out the fact that there really are a lot of ways to cut corners and save money. Most of the actual methods are simple. Here are some tips about how to save money on your phone bill.
If you have a landline phone, you may want to consider dropping it, or at least part of it. A landline service consists of two parts - local and long distance. If you are not already using your cell phone for all your calls, then you may just want to drop it altogether. Or, you may just want to stop paying for long distance service - use your cell phone for that.
Christopher Null at Tech.Yahoo.com suggests several other ways to downsize your phone bill. He says that you should start by adjusting your phone plan for the amount of minutes that you actually use. If there are a lot of minutes left over each month, then get a simpler plan with fewer minutes. He also mentions that your phone plan may include some services you are not aware of - such as emergency road service.
If many of your calls are to friends or family members, he suggests, then get a phone plan that enables you to call them for free. Another way would be to get a cell phone service where you can call other people on the same provider for free.
It might also be mentioned that you could save money on your cell phone bill if you stop sending your photos or so many text messages. While they are free under some conditions, it is costing you to send these to others. Checking your email too often is another way to ring up that bill.
Good budget planning means watching where the money is going. A few simple steps such as watching for unnecessary monthly phone charges will help you save money and use it where most needed - to get out of debt faster.

NIce post! I have read an article before almost similar on your topic. I learned about few ways to save money on phone bill, cellphone actually. First, Right-size your minutes, Check for services you don't use,Take advantage of in-network and friends & family plans, Consider pay-as-you-go, Don't be afraid to dispute inaccurate charges and etc

I've actually been making an effort to text MORE often, rather than making a call (which can really rack up the minutes when calling one of my yackity friends)

For me, prepaid rules. I did a bit of research and discovered NET10 was the best for my purposes. I don’t use a lot of minutes — maybe 200 or so a month — and I’m not a mad texter or websurfer either, but 10¢ a minute for calls and 3¢ for texts is crazy good. And no fees per day or other bs.
I got a very nice Samsung phone with a slide-out qwerty keyboard and no one knows it’s prepaid. Costs me a big $30 a month for all my stuff.
