Filed in archive Saving on January 29, 2009

Being able to save money is something that you must make up your mind to do. While this has already been said, it needs to be repeated. Otherwise - it just won't happen.

There are just too many things out there that most of us feel we need to have. So we check the sales papers, watch the ads on TV, talk to our friends about the latest - and then find a way to buy it ourselves - and saving money goes out the window.

One way to get started, which was already mentioned, is to keep track of all expenditures for a couple of weeks - a month would be best. Then, sit down and analyze it with the preconceived idea of cutting out unnecessary expenditures. By following the hints and saving money tips on this blog, start applying each of them and see how much you can save in just one month.

Start with this simple little plan:

1. Eliminate expenses on services and things you do not use. Evaluate your monthly bills and see what you do not need. This may include club memberships that you never visit.

2. Reduce unnecessary expenses - like that expensive coffee every morning. Eat out less and save a lot of money by cooking at home. This could also include getting a lower cost cable TV service - you really do not need the best.

3. Save money on gas by making fewer trips with your car. Combine your errands. Walk more - if possible.

4. After you evaluate your budget, set a goal of saving so much money each month - and sticking to it. Create a separate account so that the money is not too easily accessible.

Once you start learning how to save money - it gets easier after that. Before long you will start seeing some on your own - and applying them.
