The Bleeding Edge Of Mortgages
Filed in archive Housing on June 22, 2005

In every area of our lives we flock to those producers that offer the latest and greatest. In fact, we demand it. The iPod and Dyson vacuums come to mind. As a society we demand innovation.
The mortgage industry buys into this philosophy. From mortgages that come in every flavor under the sun to ATM cards linked to home equity lines. The mortgage industry is giving the people what they want.
The trouble comes when these innovative products are abused or utilized without necessary prudence. But don't blame the mortgage industry. At the end of the day we only have the reflection in the mirror to point the finger of blame at.
If you are interested, but confused, about some of the new offerings in the mortgage area you should find a reputable mortgage banker to spend some time with you to go over the finer points of the products.

This is a situation that does not need more thinking. I guess, in buying, we are so overwhelmed that we forget to stop and think for awhile.
