The Basics of Motorcycle Insurance

As warmer weather approaches, it is time to start thinking about getting ready to get the bike out and start riding it. Having good motorcycle insurance is a real good idea, too, because all it takes is for one incident and it can change your life forever – as well as the lives of others, too.

Motorbike insurance is well worth having. Liability insurance covers you for any liability you may receive for damages to people and property.

You want to especially be aware of whether or not your bike insurance covers a passenger. Because it is usually an option, you won't get it unless you ask for it.

Motorcycle insurance usually comes with a lot of add-ons so you want to go over each one of them with the insurance agent and decide if you want it or not. Add-ons can include coverage for your own bike, accessories (most bike insurance only provides coverage up to about $3,000 for accessories), and uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage.

There are also a number of discounts available, too. Knowing what they are can help you get the low cost motorcycle insurance you want. Discounts include a motorcycle safety course, safety and security equipment, where you park the bike at night, parking it for the winter months, the amount of the deductible, and more.
