My wife has a significant event coming up that I want to buy her a very nice piece of jewelry for. Like really nice. I'm willing to spend in the $1000-$1500 range. I think I want a necklace. I looked on the Tiffany Web site and saw a couple of nice pieces, but there's no Tiffany's near me and I haven't decided yet if I feel like driving 3+ hours to go to a store. I won't spend that kind of money on jewelry online, because they make the photos look so beautiful that there is no way to not be disappointed at what shows up on your doorstep.

So, anyway, here's what I think I want. A white gold or other silvery chain necklace with a drop pendant, with a little color to it and at least a little diamondy sparkle. This aquamarine one from Tiffany sort of fits the bill, but I'm unsure on the aquamarine; I'm afraid it will feel a little washed out, or won't stick out the way I'd like. Here's another aquamarine one I like.

This pendant with the rubelites is also looking good and fits my possible desire for a darker stone.

I also like this heart pendant, but that price is getting beyond my love for my wife.

Anyway, if you know jewelry, do you have any suggestions for a really nice piece of jewelry along these lines, either a jewelry designer you really like or a particular store? I want to get something that has heirloom appeal, something I could see my wife giving to our daughter down the line, that sort of thing. I'd appreciate your help before I get in the car to drive 3 hours on a wild goose chase.
