For items that you buy for your business - or for your home but that can also be sued in your business - you can deduct part of the cost. The portion of usage for the business is tax deductible - as long as it is a reasonable business expense. Obviously, though, most home businesses do not need a Ferrari, so count on trouble if you buy one and then try to deduct it - or your insurance for it.
Things like computers, software, Internet service (broadband), printers, and related equipment can be deducted, too. Even things like education can be tax deductible, too, if it will help in your business.
Travel can also be added, as well as food costs, hotels, and more. Trips can also be taken, too, and if you add in some business, then part of your trip may also be deductible. There are many ways you can save money on your income taxes through self employment. The main thing, however, is to be able to have receipts that clearly show what it is for.
As you can see, having your own business - as long as you can prove that you are in it for a gain - will enable you to reduce your income taxes. Could this be a way for you to save some money on your IRS taxes this year?
