It is normal for people to want to buy the major brands - just because they see those brand names the most on TV. Truthfully, though, brand names are often the most well-known just because they have a larger budget for advertising. If you want to save money on groceries, try some of the other brands.

Other brands - even the store brands - will have some products that are just about as good - maybe even better. Unfortunately, some products may not have a lot of flavor - or eye appeal. Other ones, however, are almost no different than the major brands.

In some cases, the same producer makes both brands, but simply produces them under different labels. This will require some trial and error on your part to find the good ones, but it will certainly lead to saving money on groceries over the long run. Store brands are always cheaper than the big name brands.
