Avoiding ruts that you have been in for a long time is another good way to save money on your car insurance. Many people often stay with the same insurer for many years and never change - even though they could get better deals elsewhere.

Recent news from the Associated Press talking about unemployment indicated that things may continue to be tight for a few more years. If you find things tight now, then you may be able to free up more money by switching your car insurance company.

You can easily find prices online without any commitment. Also, it really does not take long, either. One government Web site that talks about car insurance also says that you should consider recommendations from friends and relatives, too.

Be careful, however, of any company that you never heard of. Take a little time to investigate it online before you buy. There are scams out there and it is too late to learn about it when you need the coverage.
