And it is while waiting that I realize everybody else on this flight is going to the Berkshire Hathaway meeting, because they are talking about it with one another like kids going to Disney.
Ever since visiting the Vanderbilt Mansion about 25 years ago on the other side of the Hudson and having the chance to use the mansion's bowling alley, I've always wanted a bowling alley in my own home. Quite frankly, it was an aspiration that I thought would never be fulfilled, until this past weekend. I finally have my own regulation bowling lane at home and it only cost about $250 and 20 minutes to install.
Walked in Clive's office and his opening words were "I bet you don't know s**t about pallet machines!" At this point 'listening' was not an option. I had also anticipated that Clive would fire his opening salvo across my bows and I shot back with "The only thing I know about pallet machines is that my department has to do a financial analysis or there will be no approval from the Executive Committee."
Clive turned crimson, his remaining digits hit his desk and he exploded into laughter.
