Lost My Wallet Again

I have a REALLY hard time holding on to my wallet. I am very absent-minded, so I've tried to train myself to only lay it down in one of two places in the house, so I can always go back and find it in one of those places. This usually works.

But not yesterday.

Yesterday the wallet was not in one of the two places. So I checked the pants I'd worn the day before. Not there. Did a house search. Nothing. Now I'm jumping online and logging in to my credit cards to see if they've been used unscrupulously, because I'm thinking I must've lost the wallet outside of the house. Nope. Only my own purchases in the recent transactions.

So I called the zoo. You might think that's a strange thing to do when you lose your wallet, but I had been at the zoo the day before, so it made sense. The last time I remembered using the wallet was at the Ben & Jerry's at the zoo.

The zoo didn't have it.

While I was on the phone with the zoo, it suddenly dawned on me - I was on my second pair of pants that day. I'd put on jeans to take my kids to school, then decided to put on shorts because it was getting warm out. I completely forgot I'd ever had those jeans on, and that I'd already found my wallet earlier that same stinking day. The wallet was there, just like it's always in some place that makes perfect sense but is forgotten in my hazy mind.

I'm so sick of losing that wallet.
