If you had a lot of visits to the doctor last year, or some other recurring expense that is tax deductible, then you could save money on your taxes by itemizing. While it is easier to simply take the standard deduction, you may save money by taking a little more time to do the calculations. Your total amount deduction will have to be more than the standard deduction in order to qualify.
