One condition in your home this summer that will make you feel like you want to turn on the air conditioner is humidity. We all know what sticky weather feels like and how that makes it feel muggy - and we want quick relief from it. The hotter it is the worse the high humidity feels. Here is some energy saving tips that will enable you to save money.
According to Murray Anderson at DoItYourself.com, by lowering the humidity you will feel better and want to run the A/C less. One simple way to do this is to use a dehumidifier. This device takes the humidity out of the air - and you can feel the difference. Also, you will not need to run the whole house air conditioner, which will enable you to save money on electricity. He also lists some other things that you will want to do to keep the humidity low.
While a dehumidifier will take out that muggy feeling, you will still need to run the A/C some, Murray says - but not nearly as much. Running a smaller unit will enable you to lower your energy costs over the summer and save money - hopefully you will also be able to put some away, too.
